Narrative project
Colour pencil
A visual response to Zhang Xinxin’s ‘Dragonworld’, created as part of a Year 1 illustration brief. I used coloured pencil to explore atmosphere and surrealism within a fictional environment.
I focused on lighting, texture, and imaginative landscapes to reflect the surreal tone of the text.
Mural project
Pet portraits
Examples of coloured pencil pet portraits made as personal commissions for family and friends. Each piece aims to capture the texture, character and likeness of the animal through careful layering and tone.
Created as part of a mural design brief for a “thinking pod” space as part of a Year 2 brief. I chose koi fish as the subject to reflect a sense of calm and gentle movement. The drawings focus on flow, repetition and tranquillity, using coloured pencil to explore layered texture and soft composition.
Coloured pencil is a medium I return to often. It allows for both softness and control, and I enjoy using it to explore texture, tone and detail. Whether working in a more sensitive or expressive way, I find it’s a versatile tool for building warm, quiet pieces.
